Christians have been urged to renew their strength through constant study of the Word of God and fervent prayers.
The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Umuahia, the Rt Reverend Dr Geoffrey Obijuru Ibeabuchi gave the advice during a two-day Retreat and Rededication service of the Council of Knights ,of the Diocese held at Saint Stephen’s Cathedral, Umuahia.
Speaking on the theme, “Renew My Strength Oh! Lord” taken from Isaiah chapter 40 verse 29 to 31, Rt Reverend Dr Ibeabuchi explained that it was important for Christians to admit their weaknesses and connect to the source of strength to enable them to overcome the challenges of life.
The Bishop pointed out that the reasons why Christians should renew their strength include the increase in lawlessness, wickedness and failing economy in the country which affect the zeal of many in doing the work of God.
He encouraged the Knights and Ladies of the Diocese not to be discouraged but to always study the Word of God, defend the Faith and carry the cross which are the essence of their calling in God’s vineyard.
Highpoints of the event include the rededication of the Knights , seminar on Gender Based Violence and Exposition of the theme by Venerable (Dr) Chukwuemeka Agbanyim.
